NOTICE TO ALL TRIBAL ELIGIBLE VOTERS
2009 ELECTION FOR TRIBAL CHAIRPERSON

To be held April 7, 2009
From 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM

CHAIRPERSON CANDIDATES:
Cedar Band - Lora Tom
Koosharem Band - Elliott Yazzie
Indian Peaks - Jeanine Borchardt
Shivwits Band - Charlotte Lomeli
Kanosh Band - Corrina Bow

GENERAL INFORMATION:
If you are not living in your band area, you can still vote at a band building near your home. For example, if you are a Cedar Band Member and living in the St. George area, you can vote at the Shivwits Building. You may also vote using an absentee ballot.

HOW TO REQUEST AN ABSENTEE BALLOT:

  • Contact Betty Cuch to receive absentee ballot.
  • Request must be made before March 23, 2009.
  • After March 23, 2009, you can still request an absentee ballot, but remember the amount of time it will take to complete the ballot and mail it in.

ABSENTEE BALLOT RULES:

  • All absentee ballots will be mailed out on March 23, 2009 to tribal members that live out of the four county areas (Iron, Millard, Washington, Sevier), to missionaries in the field, and to elders that are homebound.
  • NO absentee ballots will be issued on the day of election.
  • NO walk-in absentee ballots will be ACCEPTED on the day of election.
  • All absentee ballots must be received by April 6, 2009.
  • Absentee ballots received on the day of election or after will not be counted.

If a band chairperson is elected as the Paiute Tribal Chairperson, the band vice-chairperson will move up and will become the band chairperson.
