Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah: SUU Service Day 2010

On August 21, 2010 over 100 incoming SUU freshmen converged on the tribal grounds to perform service as part of their college experience. SUU not only provides a well rounded educational experience but also provides out-of-classroom experiences that help students understand the value of community involvement.

A handful of students were from Cedar City, some from out-of-state with the furthest being from Massachusetts, there was at least one non-traditional student and at least one Native American student but most of the students were from other parts of Utah.

For two hours in the heat of the day these students pulled weeds, picked up trash and did general clean-up. Their work helped to beautify the tribal grounds. These students were very diligent and willing to serve.

This is the third year the Tribe has been a recipient of service from incoming freshmen. The Tribe would like to thank those students and student leaders for their kind act of service and wish them the best in their college careers.
