Family Services Programs

The Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah and FourPoints Health offers the following programs for qualifying members and participants. If you or your family is in need, check the contact information in each section and reach out to us.

Social Services

 

Promotes social well-being and provides a safety net for the most vulnerable.

Services Provided:

  • Indian child welfare (in coordination with State child welfare agencies)
  • Vulnerable adults and Elders
  • Domestic violence advocacy and support
  • PITU “Indian Homes for Indian Children” Foster Care Recruitment and Support
  • Problem solving support
  • Linking with community resources to meet needs
  • Coordination and advocacy with programs, agencies and courts
  • Family strengthening and resilience

Social Services are open to PITU Tribal Members and descendants. In some cases, immediate family members of PITU Tribal Members may be eligible for services.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

 

Services Provided:

  • Utility assistance for eligible Tribal members and other Native Americans residing in the service area.
  • Eligibility is based on income and available resources.
  • Applicant and household members may only apply through the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah OR through the State of Utah Heating Program. Appling with both programs is considered a serious abuse of public funds and will require repayment to one or both entities.

General Assistance

 

Services Provided:

  • General Assistance (GA) is financial assistance (at the current State rate) available to help adult clients become self-sufficient through gainful employment and/or obtaining alternate resources (i.e. disability income) to meet their needs.

Burial Assistance

 

Services Provided:

BIA Burial Assistance – up to $2,500

  • One-time cash assistance (currently up to $2,500 through BIA funding paid directly to the funeral home) that helps families meet expenses incurred by the death of a Tribal member who resided in the service area.
  • Burial assistance can help with the cost of the casket and basic funeral service fee. Food costs can also be included (up to $400 of the $2,500 total).
  • If death is directly related to coronavirus (COVID-19) then an additional $1,000 can be provided through April 30, 2021.

Tribal Burial Assistance (through Coronavirus Relief Funds) – up to $5,600 through Dec 31, 2021

  • One-time cash assistance paid directly to the funeral home that helps families meet expenses incurred by the death of a Tribal member that is directly related to coronavirus (COVID-19). Assistance can help with the cost of the casket and basic funeral service fee.

Child Care Assistance

 

Services Provided:

  • Provides assistance for childcare for low-income families who work, attend school/training, are looking for work (up to six weeks), or are participating in treatment (medical or behavioral health).
  • Parent pays a copay as low as $5 per month.
  • Free education/training offered to providers and parents on child development and child health and safety.
  • The program can also purchase health, safety and educational supplies for childcare providers and parents (such as smoke detectors, first aid kits, safety gates, books, educational toys).

Family Crisis Assistance

 

Services Provided:

  • Emergency food vouchers (limited to families with children),
  • DI vouchers for clothing and household items,
  • monthly food boxes (mobile food pantry),
  • hygiene kits, diapers and other aid to Tribal members during periods of economic hardship (limited to supplies and funding availability).
  • Funding and donations are limited.
