“Places like the Squaw Trail in Kanab and Squaw Cave near Cedar City could soon be getting new names due to an advancing bill in the Utah Legislature targeted at streamlining the process to eliminate derogatory place names.”

“Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah Chairperson Tamra Borchardt-Slayton said it is a derogatory term that should be changed. “If people knew the history of that word, and what that word truly meant, they would be offended, too,” she said. “
